Education4th Year Double Major Latin Literature and English Literature, with a minor in Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. 3.80 GPA cumulatively. Dean's List status for all years of undergrad. Just accepted to a funded Master's program at U of T's prestigious Centre for Medieval Studies (CMS).
ExperienceI have been tutoring in Latin since January 2012. I completed a year as a research assistant for an associate professor in English and Mediaeval studies in the 2011-2012 school year. I have been awarded several scholarships for my academic success, including the 2010-2011 and the 2011-2012 St. Michael's College In-Course Scholarship and the Summer 2012 Walter and Mary Tuohy Award for study abroad, which enabled me to spend the summer in Italy studying literature.
I have taken courses in Latin at the 100, 200, 300 and 400 levels in both Classical and Mediaeval Latin. I have never received a mark under an A in Latin and received A+ in Latin Prose, Mediaeval Latin Literature and my fourth year Latin Composition seminar. I am also taking Old English, History of the English Language and Linguistics, so I am very well equipped to teach English, either as a second language or to those who would like to improve their grammar or writing ability.
I want to tutor because I want to be a professor. Teaching experience is a valuable asset for my future career because I'd like to be a good professor. I like children and I enjoy the ease with which they learn secondary languages.
HobbiesI enjoy doing yoga, biking and outdoor sports. I love to travel and want to go to South and Central America next. I like adventures, good stories and children. Please contact me a few days before you need a session to ensure that I have time available for you. I cannot book a session without 48 hours notice.
