EducationAs a straight A student myself, I love helping my clients go from C's to A's. I have an MA and honors B.A. in English from the University of Toronto, graduating with High Distinctions. I was accepted to a very competitive Masters program at the University of Toronto (the Masters of Creative Writing in the Field of English) that accepts only 7 students in Canada each year. In the second year of the program, we write a book. Throughout my time as a student at the University of Toronto, I have won numerous scholarships and awards for my writing, including the Avie Bennett Scholarship, the Woodhouse Scholarship in English twice, and the Norma Epstein Award for Creative Writing twice. I have made the Dean's List each year since entering university. I recently completed an editing course at Innis College.
I have been editing for years. I am very confident in my ability to revise texts, polishing essays so that they are clear, persuasive and powerful. My clients often email or text me to let me know that they have been accepted to the grad school of their choice or have received an A on the texts we have worked on and revised. It is my goal to see my students reach and surpass their own goals for myself and I am happy to say that I am often rewarded by seeing them improve and thrive! I also tutor students for whom English is a second language and provide a very positive and supportive environment for them. I help ESL students improve their confidence in speaking with native English speakers, pronunciation, vocabulary and conversational skills so that they feel proud speaking to others. I love learning about my clients' cultural/ academic backgrounds and interests and our classes are always fun and lively!
The subjects I tutor include: English, Writing, English as A Second Language (ESL), Essay Editing, Literature, Debate, Presentations, Persuasive Writing, Interview Skills, Writing Personal Statements for Undergraduate and Graduate School, Award Applications, Public Speaking, Art, Creative Writing, Poetry, Communication, Grammar, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Confidence, Study Skills, Organization
ExperienceI have been an ESL and English tutor as well as an editor for both young and mature students for years. I have worked with a doctor, multiple business professionals and with many students from a diverse range of backgrounds and fields. I was a Teaching Assistant (TA) in two different courses at the University of Toronto, including a course called Effective Writing. For three years, I worked at a literacy camp for children. As a tutor, I draw on my talent for programming fun, personalized and stimulating activities to help students of all ages enjoy learning.

Paloma is the best. Creativity, a profound knowledge of English, sound writing skills, the ability to analyze the subtleties of a text - she has it all. Plus she makes it fun! I highly recommend her to anyone looking to improve his mastery of English.
Learning and writing academic English is difficult for anyone. It is especially more challenging for ESL speakers. I was in this situation and to make my circumstances even more daunting, I was short of time. It is against background that I "met" Paloma. The patient, motivating and listening tutor guided me through the process and my writing improved one essay at a time. I recommend Paloma for any serious student - whether English is your first or fifth language - who is committed to improving their writing skills and grade.
