Education

I earned my undergraduate degree in social psychology from McMaster University where my academic areas of specialization were psychology, sociology, and English. I then went on to earn my graduate degree in teaching from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto. My areas of specialization during my graduate studies included junior and intermediate ages, English, visual arts, and special education with a focus on ASD and gifted students.

Experience

I offer tutoring sessions for English, reading, writing for all grade levels as well as some math courses. As an instructor I teach students to excel in English in accordance with the Ontario ministry curriculum expectations and developing personalized programs to enhance their literacy skills. I work with students to help them develop reading skills such as: comprehension, note taking, improving vocabulary focused reading and critical thinking. I also work with students to help them develop writing skills such as: formal and creative writing, essay structure, grammar, research and editing. In addition to being a Homeroom School Teacher to grades 6-8 in all subject areas since 2015 I've also worked for the Education Quality and Accountability Office as a Scorer for the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Tests and as a private tutor since 2012.
