Education

I attended the University of Toronto and completed a Specialist Program in English and a Minor in Semiotics and Communication Theory in 2012, graduating with a Honours Bachelor of Arts and an A average. During my undergraduate degree at UofT I was the recipient of the Victoria University Regents In-Course Scholarship in 2009, and the Professor William Kingston and Dr. John Kingston Scholarship in both 2010 and 2011 for academic excellence and an overall A standing. I was also a Dean's List scholar for all four years of my undergraduate. Following my undergraduate degree, I returned to the University of Toronto to do my Master of Arts, also in English. I will be graduating this November with an A average.

Experience

I can help you achieve the results you are looking for because I personally just underwent the same experience, and was able to achieve excellent academic results with my acquired skills and knowledge. As an undergraduate and graduate student at UofT, I achieved many A final grades, including multiple A+ on my transcripts. Most recently I received an A+ in a graduate course on Modernism and Temporality, having achieved an A+ on my final research paper. In addition, during my undergraduate degree I achieved the mark of A+ on many exams in various fields such as Psychology, Semiotics and Communication Theory, Philosophy, and, of course, English. In a 300- level English course on Canadian Literature I achieved a mark of 102% on the final exam, the highest mark to ever have been recorded in the twenty years the professor has been teaching that course. As well, I achieved two marks of over 95% on multiple choice exams in my 100- level Intro to Psychology class. In terms of essay writing, what this means for you is that I have a proven track record of delivering the types of essays and research papers that university professors are looking for. Having just finished my graduate degree this summer, I know exactly what the requirements are in terms of research, citation, etc., right now. I can help in all stages of essay writing, from choosing a topic, writing an essay outline, doing research, planning a paper, writing a paper, and editing it. While my specialty is English, I am able to help students in all areas of the Social Sciences and Humanities- my skills are highly transferable. I know that if I am able to produce A+ essays for myself, I can also assist you in writing those intriguing, organized and well-researched papers that professors will take note of. If we turn to test and exam preparation, it's clear that I personally have developed organized and effective study habits over my time at university that I can now pass onto you in order to help you achieve the A's you're looking for. I can work with you on making effective study notes, memorizing material, and pre-planning answers to potential written response questions. Exam writing isn't just about spending a million hours studying, it's about strategizing and figuring out where to focus your time and energy. I can help you do this highly effectively in order to get results. My goal is to help you achieve the marks you are looking for right now, but also gain an understanding in what professors are looking for in essays and test writing that you can take with you for the rest of your academic career. Along with help during your current degree, I also offer assistance in application writing and editing. A year and a half ago I got accepted into the most prestigious school for English graduate study in Canada- UofT. This means I have the ability to write an application that is compelling and of interest to faculty members. I can assist you by guiding you through the graduate application process, helping you organize materials, and, most importantly, writing a statement of purpose that is relevant and noteworthy, To summarize: I charge $30 an hour for personalized assistance with: *Test and Exam preparation *All stages of Essay writing from choosing a topic, doing research, organizing materials, and essay planning to final stage revising and editing *Graduate applications *General help with improving study skills, reading comprehension and English literacy

Hobbies

My academic focus is on Modernist writing, particularly late modernist- postmodernist writers such as Jean Rhys and Samuel Beckett. I am also interested in investigating the phenomenon of melancholia as a modern, Western condition through the works of modernist texts, as well as examining it from a gendered perspective. As a student, I previously worked as a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard for 6 years at a private swim school in Toronto. I have hands on experience working with students one on one, giving them the feedback they need to improve their own skills. I have taught swimming to hundreds of children, and have developed a patient, kind, but also challenging approach to teaching. I firmly believe that learning should be an engaging and enjoyable process, and this is the way to achieve the best results.
