Education

I have a Doctorate in Molecular Genetics from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science Joint Honors in Biochemistry and Behavioral Neuroscience from the Memorial University of Newfoundland. I earned a 4.0 GPA for both of these programs. As a consequence of my degrees, I have expert-level knowledge of genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, protein structure, microbiology, and virology. I am able to tutor university students in courses pertaining to any of these subjects. I am also proficient in psychology, chemistry, biology, neurosciences, cell biology, algebra, and introductory calculus, and I'm willing to tutor first and second-year courses in these subjects. I can also tutor AP high school or general high school courses in any of these subjects.

Experience

I have always loved to teach and share knowledge with people. One of my greatest joys is helping others learn and seeing the moment of comprehension when the material comes together for the student. Education is as individual as the student so I believe in changing my approach to match my students. I have always been gifted in a range of academic subjects and therefore I am comfortable tutoring a range of subjects. I have been told by numerous people that I am an excellent and patient teacher. With respect to experience, I have tutored the following courses to date, I have tutored the third year protein biochemistry at the University of Toronto. I have taught laboratory microbiology techniques and laboratory molecular genetics techniques. I have tutored Grade 12 French, Grade 12 English Literature, Grade 12 Biology, and Grade 12 Math I completed my secondary schooling in French and thus I am and willing to tutor science and math in French for immersion students.

Hobbies

I am passionate about anything relating to science and research. I am curious and interested in the world around me which drives this interest. I love to learn and discover new things and it makes me happy to know that no matter how much I learn, there is always something new for me to discover. I love to swim and previously worked as a lifeguard during high school and university and used to teach swimming lessons. I find swimming to be a wonderful way to relax. I enjoy cooking and love to try new recipes. Sometimes I also enjoy experimenting a bit in the kitchen to create brand new recipes. Reading is also a major hobby of mine. I particularly enjoy reading fiction, science fiction and fantasy novels. I love computers and living in the information age. I actually have some experience in website development as a hobby and some experience with computer programming.
