Are you looking for an English or ESL Tutor? I am an experienced TESL-certified tutor who would be happy to help you improve your English skills! I have an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto, where I completed an English major and a double minor in History and Psychology. I graduated with High Distinction and I received the Samuel James Stubbs Award for academic achievement in English at U of T. I also completed a Teaching Second Language Certificate (specializing in Teaching English as a Second Language) at the University of Calgary.

Experience

I developed strong tutoring skills over the years across a diversity of settings. I worked as a tutor at Sylvan Learning Centre for more than a year. At Sylvan, I provided English tutoring to groups of 1-3 students from pre-k to Grade 12. I also provided one-on-one ESL conversational classes to adult students. Prior to that, I worked as an English teacher at a Apollo High School, a private Korean school. My Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Toronto allowed me to develop excellent reading, writing, and research skills. I am passionate about sharing the skills that I've learned with students. Moreover, I am currently enrolled in a TESL certificate program, where I am learning about new ESL teaching methods. My experiences as a teacher and tutor have allowed me to develop strong leadership skills. I enjoy motivating students to be the best they can be in a fun and engaging way and I always try to develop an encouraging and welcoming learning environment.

Hobbies

I am passionate about writing. I enjoy working for a community magazine, where I have the opportunity to write articles about resident and families in the neighbourhood. I am also a singer/songwriter and I enjoy performing in open mic nights in downtown Toronto. I often attend songwriters' groups and collaborate with other musicians.
