I am a University of British Columbia (UBC) graduate with a Master of Social Work (MSW), with a focus on clinical social work (assessment and counseling). I'm also a York University graduate with an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Hons. BA) in Psychology (Dean's List).
Experience
I work collaboratively as a tutor to increase confidence and to help them achieve their potential. Using some of the same and some different strategies depending on the context and goals, I have helped athletes and students work toward their potential and achieve success and satisfaction in the process as well as, importantly, in the work (school, sport, therapy) they produce. At the York U Faculty of Health, I volunteered as a Peer Mentor, where I helped students manage their workload and wellness using coping and time management strategies. I wrote an undergraduate thesis in psychology and many other research papers. For those looking to go to American colleges, I took the SAT and could help students prepare for it. For those looking to go to graduate studies programs, I took the GRE, and can particularly help prepare students for the Verbal Reasoning and Analytical Writing sections. In addition to the education mentioned above, I took a course at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in performance psychology and can apply some of those strategies with students. I have a passion for writing and editing, and I look forward to helping you or your child do the best they can do. I also enjoy helping students prepare for tests/exams (including course material and dealing with test anxiety). When it comes to school projects and essay/report writing and editing, I can help you or your child with brainstorming, organization, structure, and quality of writing. I aim to teach students strategies that will help them with a particular assignment or test and future assignments and/or tests.
