Nathaniel W.
Private tutor in Toronto, Canada
Education
I hold a Master's of Applied Economics from the University of Guelph. As and undergraduate, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Resource Economics, also from the University of Guelph.
Experience
I have a total of five years teaching experience. Three of those years of teaching were spent overseas. During this time, I taught students of ages from kindergarten through college. My experience also includes working as a teacher's assistant in undergraduate math and economics courses at the University of Guelph. I am a math, science, and economics tutor. I personally believe that the way math is taught now is backwards. We teach rote learning without teaching the why. To fully understand math, we need to understand the application, point, and what we are doing. I believe that once we understand those thing, the memorizing of algorithms and formulas comes easily. Together we can work through difficult concepts until they make sense to you.

Hobbies
Prior to this job I spent 3 years teaching overseas where I developed an interest in teaching math, science, and economics. Personally, I believe the way we teach math is backwards. We teach rote learning without first teaching the WHY or the INTUITION. To fully understand mathematics we need to first understand the application, the point, and what we are doing. Once we get this, the memorizing of the formula/algorithms come easy.
