I have a B.A. (Hons) in English Literature & Theatre Studies from Warwick University in England, an M.A. in Literature from Warwick University and an M.F.A, in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia (Canada).
Experience
I have 20+ years experience teaching English at the Middle School, High School and College levels, and I am the director of Centauri Arts, a private learning center that offers English Enrichment programs and arts classes for children and teens. All my programs are offered virtually on Zoom, so they are available to anyone, wherever you live. I have a wealth of experience working with ages 10-90! English Language and Literature are my passions. For 25 summers, we've offered arts enrichment programs for youth from all over the world, including camps that focus on creative writing and classical literature. I also run an arts studio in Toronto, with weekly in-person and virtual classes in creative writing, film, fine art and theatre. Proficiency in writing and reading comprehension are essential - not only to do well in school, but to get ahead in life. Despite this, the subject is often taught inadequately in schools. I believe all students should finish high school able to write convincingly, use grammar correctly and structure a top notch essay. Students should also possess the skills to appreciate all forms of writing from non-fiction to poetry. I am passionate about classical literature - particularly Shakespeare. In fact, my book: "Practical Approaches to the Teaching of Shakespeare" is used by English and Drama teachers all over the world. The ability to write well and to appreciate a variety of written materials - creative and otherwise - are absolutely essential. These skills not only enable students to get ahead in school, but they open doors to untold interests in the future.
