Education

Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in Text Analysis and Communication. Certification in Teaching ESL (TESL) from George Brown College, Toronto. Celpip English Test Trainer

Experience

Visit my website at www.celprep.com for useful guides proven to increase Celpip test scores required for immigration. The general tips package also helps for Ielts and Toefl tests. I'm an experienced native-speaking English & ESL tutor, editor and writer. I have a Ph.D. in text analysis and communication (U of T) as well as Teaching ESL certification. In addition, I have extensive experience helping students succeed on English tests such as CELPIP, IELTS, TOEFL, and the sentence correction section of the GMAT. I would be delighted to help you IMPROVE your English in any area of: • Writing & editing (essays, reports, emails, applications, general skills, dissertations, etc.) • Speaking and listening (conversation, presentations, interviews, pronunciation, etc.) • Reading and researching (books, articles, newspapers, etc.) Contact me for a free initial meeting where I can assess your specific needs. My basic hourly rate is reasonable. We will focus on your specific needs. You may desire improvement in areas such as English conversation, academic English, job/professional/business English, presentations, applications & interviews, English exams (such as IELTS, TOEFL, CELPIP), and pronunciation. You may also desire expert editing and writing support for your academic essays and assignments, business documents, or application materials. I work extremely hard on behalf of my students, who benefit from my years of Canadian experience as an English & ESL tutor and editor, university teacher, Ontario government policy advisor, researcher, writer, software consultant, and dancer. Some of my students/clients are at beginning levels, while others speak quite well, but want to take it to the next level where they can express themselves fully and easily. Some are comfortable speaking, but require help with their writing. All levels and ages are welcome, and I have students in elementary school, high school, college, and university (undergraduate, master’s and PhD). In addition, I work with clients who are already in the work force in areas as varied as construction, engineering, and health care, as well as ESL students at all levels.

Hobbies

I provide highly competent and caring tutoring that is always personalized to every student. In addition to my work as an English tutor, I am a dance student, teacher and occasional performer in Toronto. My neighborhood has a community garden that I'm a happy member of, growing tomatoes, greens, cucumbers and zucchini and enjoying the company of fellow gardeners. Most weekends I have my 2 young-adult children over for dinner and lively conversation. Basically, I'm grateful to live and work in the wonderfully multicultural city of Toronto, with its many parks, beaches, neighborhoods and entertainment venues.
