Education

Mathematics Major at the University of Waterloo - Graduate with Distinction

Experience

I graduated as one of the top students in Canada's best math faculty at the University of Waterloo (UW), obtaining a 3.9/4.0 GPA. Over the 4 year program, I have taken Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, and Optimization courses at UW. I have enjoyed tutoring both University and High School level math courses for 7+ years. I often tutor friends in various subjects because I enjoy teaching and seeing people improve. Mathematics is a difficult subject because concepts build on top of each other. Solving an equation in grade 11 relies on the understanding of grade 9 and 10 concepts. Therefore, when a student falls behind, it could have amplified effects over the years. That is why when solving a question, it is crucial to teach them the fundamentals of that question, the theories and concepts behind it. When I tutored in the past, I have kept these ideas in mind to achieve high success rates among my student. I think each person has the ability to do well but needs to understand the system and structure in order to be successful. In addition, I have professional work experience at large renowned corporations, including Deloitte, Manulife Financial, and Suncor Energy. The two most valuable traits I developed are professionalism and high ethical values, which I bring to my lessons and students.
