Education

I earned my Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a focus on Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. I graduated on the Dean's List. I studied Cancer Immunology at McMaster University to earn my master's in Immunology.

Experience

I have worked as a Teaching Assistant at McMaster University in Canada for two years teaching Immunology to 3rd and 4th-year University students. I have had a varied teaching experience with students from high school to university levels. I've taught Introductory Immunology and Advanced Immunology courses. During that time, I've created and graded assignments and tests, led tutorials, and met with students individually for reviews. At the end of each semester, students attending each tutorial are asked by the department to rate their teaching assistant. My reviews have always said that my overall effectiveness as a teaching assistant is excellent, and my teaching strategies are effective. Through my academic career, I have the skills necessary to work with students in 9th to 12th-grade math, chemistry, and biology, as well as general science subjects.

Hobbies

Hello all! My main area of focus is Cancer Immunology, I have been working as a Research Assistant in Cancer Immunotherapy Labs for the past 9 years in Toronto Canada, Sydney Australia, and Melbourne Australia. My area of expertise is understanding the immune system in the context of cancers, in hopes to be able to paint a more detailed picture on what the immune systems role in tumour progression or regression. Aside for my love of Immunology and cancer research, I love photography (I even won a photography contest for best photo submission!). I have volunteered as a photographer at several different events, such as McMaster University Cell Production Workshop (2014), Don Gaetano Dinner Reception (2013), and a family wedding (2013). It would be an odd site to see me without some sort of camera with me at any time. I'm a very active individual, I play ultimate frisbee during the summer in Hamilton and I am also the captain of an intramural team at McMaster. I love playing soccer, I have been playing for 18 years as a player in both Toronto (competitive league) and Hamilton (adult recreation). My love of teaching is not only relevant in an academic setting, I also teacher sports to new players. For example, as the captain of my ultimate Frisbee team I had to teach a team of beginners how to play. I also have coached youth soccer in both Toronto (2006-2010) and in Hamilton (2011), teaching soccer was the best volunteering experience I have ever had. I love playing music, the guitar and ukulele.
