Education
I hold a B.A. in English Literature and Classical Studies from the National University of Ireland, Galway Ireland, and a Masters Degree in Second Language Education from the University of Toronto. Through my Masters Degree I studied courses ranging from Writing in a Second Language, Communicating in a Second Language to Methods to Assess Language Students and improve their performance. These courses have helped me in my development as a language teacher.
Experience
I have tutored many students to achieve successful IELTS scores over the past four years. I am an IELTS Instructor with a Private language school in Toronto, where I have taught for six years, and am a registered Examiner in Speaking and Writing for the British Council since 2008. I have worked extensively with Beginner students of English, and helped students to achieve high scores with Cambridge First Certificate and Cambridge Advanced English exams. Apart from IELTS I also tutor Business students, particularly in business writing. I want to tutor as I feel that I can make a difference for students. Education today is extremely competitive, but I feel that with my experience and my passion for teaching I can elevate the student's abilities in their subject area. In my Masters Degree I achieved an overall Grade Point Average of 4.0. I continue to learn and frequently take workshops to upgrade my skills in the education field.
