Contact today to make math easy! www.mathmadeeasy.net My Story I got my start tutoring by helping classmates in Calculus in California way back in 1997. I started volunteering as a math tutor at the school support lab, then began tutoring in earnest at a professional tutoring centre. I loved it. I was hooked. So began a lifelong passion. Upon completion of my A.S. Degree in Mathematics in California, I moved back to Toronto and acquired a BASc in Engineering from UofT. Since that time I have worked in a variety of fields, including Education, Engineering, Mining and Geology, Business and Marketing, and the Banking and Securities Industry. I have found that acquiring several years of "real world" experience in a variety of different fields has provided me with a well rounded perspective and knowledge base that translates into high quality tutoring relationships and sessions. Research indicates that the primary factor affecting student performance is the relationship between teacher and student. In short, students will work harder and more effectively for you if they like, respect and trust you. This is a significant part of the equation leading to the success of many of my students. During my 15+ years as a tutor I have experienced a rewardingly high level of success and have been able to help many students achieve their academic goals. I have developed a solid ability to build rapport with students and to keep them engaged while presenting course material in a digestible format. Having worked as a freelance tutor and for several prominent tutoring agencies, I have worked closely with a wide variety of students with skills and aptitudes ranging from remedial to highly advanced. I have also been fortunate to work closely with several students with exceptionalities, such as ADD/ADHD, Asperger's, learning disabilities, and English language learners. I am skilled at assessing individual student needs, designing and implementing targeted study plans, developing study skills, aiding test preparation, and keeping students on track towards success. In addition to being a private tutor, I am a Math and Physics Teacher at both Toronto Prep School and Toronto Preparatory Academy. Why Do I Love Tutoring? Because it works. Because I have witnessed it make such a big difference in the lives of many young students. Lastly, because I love math and science! Math and science are often significant obstacles to adolescent students, representing a literal fork in the road, cutting off choices and limiting the trajectory of their lives. It's a big deal. I believe that anyone can do well at math and science. Students simply require a teacher who can communicate with them in a language that they understand. Being able to be that teacher is awesome, and it's an honour. I am certain that once a student tastes some success with learning, it can truly change their beliefs about what they are capable of, and can positively impact their futures in a very significant way. Helping students knock down perceived boundaries and to reach beyond what they thought they could achieve truly opens up a whole new world of possibilities in life — what's not to love about that?
