Education

I earned my Ph.D. at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology and Dortmund University in Dortmund, Germany. I also hold a master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences, Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry.

Experience

I am a friendly and open-minded person with a strong belief in commitment and respect. I can help students who are in the process of receiving their degrees (public health, biomedical sciences, etc.) or simply need help with their assignments. I am interested in tutoring in subjects like gerontology and other science courses like biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, cell biology, genetic engineering, laboratory skills, life sciences, molecular biology, nutrition, pharmacology, and public health. I am also available for summer tutoring. In addition, I love to design science/biology projects for students, including for International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) students who need help writing internal assessments (IA), or IB extended essays (EE). I can also help with technical writing, research proposals, synopsis, research articles, or individual fellowship proposals in medical, plant, and life sciences. I am currently a Senior Fellow/Scientist at Sickkids Hospital/Research Institute. Previously, I held a Teaching/Research fellowship at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. I also have various teaching experiences in many different institutions and laboratories. During my time at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology in Dortmund, Germany, I created a Summer Student Project focused on protein expression and purification, mutagenesis, the interaction of inhibitors with SGLT1, and tryptophan fluorescence. As the Lab Course Coordinator of the Department of Membrane Biochemistry and Biophysics at Utrecht University in Utrecht, The Netherlands, I focused on skills related to the biochemistry of membranes, such as potassium channel expression/purification, reconstitution, gel electrophoresis, tryptophan fluorescence, and tetrameric assembly/stability assays. While studying at the Institute for Biophysics of Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria, my volunteer lecture series/seminar topics were related to membrane protein structure and function. During my time there as the Lab Course Coordinator, I had to work with ion channels, potassium channels, mutations and structure-function studies on mutagenesis, expression/purification, reconstitution, stability assays, planar lipid bilayer and single-channel recordings, and inhibitions assays. My teaching and research experience includes molecular techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, expression and purification of affinity tagged proteins/membrane proteins from E. coli and yeast system, mammalian cell/tissue culture, model membranes and protein reconstitution, gel electrophoresis, immunoblotting, tryptophan fluorescence spectroscopy, single ion channel and inhibition assays, electrophysiology and patch-clamp, computer/molecular modeling, ELISA based assays, genetic analysis, and disease model studies. I spent my scientific career in research and teaching. I find myself very passionate about teaching, concentrating on the basic principles of scientific thinking. I want to apply my scientific knowledge to teach health sciences, gerontology (public health), basic and advanced biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and pharmacology.
