Honours Bachelor of Arts conferred with distinction. Comprised of a double major in the fields of history and English University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies (2013-2014). Masters degree conferred in November 2014 - The main focus of my independent research was a study of visual representations of North American pin-up women during the Second World War and their social and cultural impact upon the war effort and in the post-war decade in North American society.

Experience

I have completed both an undergraduate and graduate degree conferred by the University of Toronto. My undergraduate degree was completed at both the St. George and Scarborough Campuses of UofT and is comprised of a double major in the fields of History and English. My Masters degree is in Modern History with a specialization in World War II from a North American perspective. More specifically, I studied the visual imagery (photography, ad campaigns, propaganda etc.) that emerged from the North American war effort. During the completion of this degree I took on a full course load as well as the independent study portion which resulted in a thesis. I have taken a great many American and European history classes and am well versed in post-colonial and modern histories. From the perspective of a student of english, I particularly enjoyed a Victorian literature class that I took during my undergraduate studies. I have also taken many classes in poetry and creative writing. I have taught children and adolescents (grades 9-12) as a teaching assistant in both an Applied and Academic English classrooms. For the past decade I have volunteered my time as a teaching assistant on yearly school-organized camping trips, during which I instruct students on the arts of survival in the wilderness, teach canoe skills, and generally how to enjoy the great outdoors! I have also instructed students (grades 9-12) in archery classes in the past.

Hobbies

I enjoy reading, voraciously, of course. I also enjoy creative writing as well as the process of academic writing. I love being outside and active, whether that means camping, gardening, or playing an organized sport. Balance, I believe, is an important thing to strike when engaging in academics.
