I have a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Birmingham, UK. I also hold an MSc in Physics with a specialization in advanced nuclear physics.
Experience
As a Maths Teacher at Milton Prep Academy, Ontario, Canada I prepared syllabus, class materials and notes, set exam papers, built a complete course binder with AFL, AAL and AOL, attendance registers, lesson plans, Rubrics, etc. During my time as a Private Tutor, in Toronto, Canada I tutored courses MHF4U, MDM4U, and MPM1D, providing regular help with understanding the subject matter, preparing for exams, homework and assignment assistance. I also prepared students for the ACT exam, teaching Maths, Science and English, and setting and conducting model tests. At the University of Birmingham, UK, I was responsible for supervising optical experiments like fibre optic communication, He-Neon Laser experiments, designing and supervising open-ended general physics projects, grading lab works, project reports and presentations. Some of the projects that I supervised are, 'Finding the sweet spot of a Tennis Racket', "Finding the N-number of a diffraction grating', 'Statistical Analysis of the adage, 'Buttered side always falls down'' I also worked as a support tutor for the Yr 2 Communication and Skills class, helping students understand and explore the application of physics to everyday problems. I worked as part of the Invigilating team at the University during the end-of term semester exams. This work includes preparing the examination venue, supervising the exam and collating examination answer booklets. Twice I have also acted as the chief Invigilator, holding responsibility for the entire conduct of the exam. I have conducted a Masterclass (Galaxy classification, how to use SDSS data, etc.) at the University of Birmingham for High School students. I have taught Matriculation, Tamil Nadu State Board and Central Board of Secondary Education, India syllabus: all subjects for 8 to 18 yr old on a one-to-one basis. I was responsible for designing and executing everyday classroom activities, preparing and grading tests and homework assignments, assisting in their school work, etc. I also conducted a Masterclass for students of grade 7, 8 and 9 of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School. The classes included practical demonstration of physics concepts in an innovative and interactive way from using straws to teach the different standing nodes in a tube to night sky observation sessions.
