Education
I have an Honours B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario with a double major in Biology and Physiology. I also have an M.ASc. in Biomedical Engineering from McMaster University, where my focus was on the design of biomaterials, organic chemistry, and polymer synthesis.
Experience
I have experience tutoring at the undergraduate level in Genetics, Statistics, and Organic Chemistry. I've also been a Teacher's Assistant for undergraduate-level courses, including Tissue Engineering Laboratory and Pharmacology. I've also published scientific papers on the subject of biomaterials design. Tutoring is a fun opportunity for me to try to share some of my expertise with others in a variety of creative and interesting ways. It is always enjoyable to tackle the challenge of presenting information to someone in such a way as to improve their understanding, where they may have otherwise had a hard time with that information as it was presented in class. The most rewarding aspects of the job come when I can see that I contributed to a marked improvement in a student's performance in a particular class, and also when I can get a student excited about a subject that they might not have previously enjoyed.
